WOODLAND EDGE DWELLING/ SHROPSHIRE
Type: Private Residential
Architect: Johnson Design Partnership
CGI Visuals: Gibbons Visual
Client: Private
Status: Paragraph 84 Planning Application submitted 2026
The landscape proposals look to intertwine the new house and the woodland ensuring the client is able to enjoy the natural beauty and unique setting throughout the seasons.
The design considers existing contours to allow for the simplest connection with the wider site and proposed remote studio.
A smaller garden to the east of the house makes best use of existing levels, morning sunlight and access into the living spaces. A series of courtyards and a roof terrace make the most of sunlight through the day and allow the woodland to envelop the building.
Sensitive interventions are proposed in the wider landscape. Project aims include establishing a maintenance regime to manage the woodland and introduce an enhanced planting plant palette of native bulbs and flowering ground covers along with woodland edge wildflowers to clearings. In additional to improving the woodland itself we also sought to improve access and create opportunities for people to enjoy the landscape.
The planning application followed the Paragraph 84e route with submission in early 2026.
