CHURCH STOWE/ NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Type: Private Residential

Architect: Beacham Architects LTD

Client: Private

Status: Paragraph 84 Planning Application. Submitted in 2025.

The Three Limes site has notable features consisting of a former quarry, a mature belt of trees and topography which falls from the south west to the north east.  The site is contained along the eastern boundary by a network of existing mature trees, these provide valuable wildlife habitat as well as helping to enclose the site from the road.

The proposed dwelling is positioned at the base of a former limestone quarry.

The basin provides a naturally sheltered microclimate while the architectural materials and hard landscape should reflect the former limestone quarry and local geology.

Furthermore, the sunken position of the dwelling reduces any impact on the surrounding mature trees and therefore the existing microclimate.

The landscape design looks to provide the applicant opportunities to enjoy the whole site, year round. The design includes a number

of attractors to draw people through the landscape and provide enriching features such as fruiting trees, seating to exploit key views,

play features, habitats for wildlife, seasonal colour and texture and the sense of an ‘alive’ landscape provided by meadow planting.
